Review HONDA fits ATC185 1982

The ATC185, a vintage all-terrain vehicle (ATV) manufactured by Honda in 1982, is an iconic piece of off-road history. This model boasts a robust and reliable 185cc four-stroke engine, which delivers ample power for navigating various terrains with ease. The engine is known for its quiet operation and fuel efficiency, making it a popular choice for both recreational and utility purposes.

The ATC185 features a full-size, high-tensile steel frame that provides excellent stability and durability. The frame is paired with a long-travel suspension system, which includes durable hydraulic shocks at both the front and rear. This setup ensures a smooth ride over rough terrain, while also providing excellent control and handling.

The vehicle is equipped with large, knobby tires that provide excellent traction on a variety of surfaces, including mud, sand, and gravel. The tires are mounted on sturdy aluminum wheels, which not only reduce unsprung weight for improved performance but also add to the vehicle's overall aesthetic.

The ATC185 comes with a comfortable, fully-adjustable seat that can accommodate riders of various sizes. The handlebars are adjustable as well, allowing for a customizable riding position. The vehicle features a simple yet functional instrument panel, which includes a speedometer, fuel gauge, and warning lights.

The ATC185 is known for its reliability and ease of maintenance. The engine is air-cooled, which eliminates the need for a cooling system, making it less prone to failure. The vehicle also features a simple, yet effective chain drive system, which is easy to service and replace if necessary.

In conclusion, the ATC185 is a versatile and reliable off-road vehicle that offers a blend of power, performance, and comfort. Its vintage appeal, combined with its robust construction and ease of maintenance, makes it a favorite among collectors and enthusiasts alike. Whether you're looking for a vehicle for recreational use or as a practical tool for work, the ATC185 is a great choice.

Pros of buying a 1982 Honda ATC185:

1. Reliability: Honda is known for its durability and reliability, and the ATC185 is no exception. With proper maintenance, this ATV can last for many years.

2. Affordability: Older ATVs like the ATC185 are often more affordable than newer models. This can make it a good option for those on a budget.

3. Simple Design: The ATC185 has a simple design with fewer electronic components, which can make it easier to repair and maintain.

4. Fun Factor: Older ATVs like the ATC185 can be a lot of fun to ride. They may not have all the bells and whistles of newer models, but they can still provide a great riding experience.

Cons of buying a 1982 Honda ATC185:

1. Limited Performance: Compared to newer ATVs, the ATC185 has limited performance. It may not be as fast or powerful, and it may not handle as well on rough terrain.

2. Limited Features: Older ATVs like the ATC185 often have fewer features than newer models. This can make them less convenient to use, and it may be harder to find replacement parts.

3. Safety Concerns: Older ATVs may not have the same safety features as newer models. This can be a concern, especially if you plan to ride the ATV with children or inexperienced riders.

4. Maintenance Costs: While the ATC185 may be affordable to buy, it can be more expensive to maintain than a newer ATV. This is because older vehicles often require more frequent repairs and replacement parts.

Conclusion: If you are looking for an affordable, reliable, and fun ATV, the 1982 Honda ATC185 may be a good option for you. However, you should also be aware of its limitations in terms of performance, features, and safety. If you prioritize performance and safety, you may want to consider a newer ATV.

Recommendation: If you are interested in buying a 1982 Honda ATC185, I would recommend doing your research and having the ATV inspected by a qualified mechanic before making a purchase. This will help you ensure that the ATV is in good condition and that you are getting a fair price. Additionally, make sure to budget for ongoing maintenance costs, as they can add up over time.

Details:

It is a project so not thing of beauty to sit on the living room coffee table at moment. The kids did ride it around front yard when we go. Made Honda and other 3 wheel manufactures issue buy backs on the three Wheeler's through dealers with no questions asked all those were destroyed. All three tires have pretty decent tread, one rear leaks down over an extended period of time like two weeks.

One reason these are hard to find is the gov. The old stock metal tank was replaced with a plastic one so no rust issues to worry about. The transmission shifts fine, has automatic clutch which works fine as well also on list was a good carb and air filter cleaning. These old 3 Wheeler's are hard to find in nice steerable condition with all the parts them and running.

The air box is off at moment just as part of cleaning. If you know these old bikes then how inherently unstable they were. Needs very little.

One of the first things to do on restore list would be a new pull cord. Easy to pull another bike that would not crank or use it at the farm carry spray rig on back rack engine runs, doesn't smoke and no cam chain noise valve piston. I have not done a front to back for total missing parts as of yet the shift pattern on these are backwards from cycles. Had thought about this as a go to pit bike for the motocross races.

Yamaha Honda Suzuki Kawasaki Baltic Monte's Sosa pennon KTM vintage. This is the old pull start only. Can entertain trades on vintage MC and endure bikes up to 1985 is. Very prone to turning over on a hard fast turn.

The plastic on it is actually quite good, some fading, will clean up nicely would look nice after restoration with a little paint here and there. Few small parts missing like a hand brake lever, neutral indicator pointer. Some tiny surface rust, nothing bad. Honda ATC185 three wheeler 1982. To many projects and not enough time.

Does not have electric start. Up for low and down 2nd on. Bike comes with a trailer hitch which is receiver type setup, skid plate and rear heavy duty mount rack fiberglass whip antenna.
