The shield really does look like new, no, better than new. Needless to say, I felt sorry for the poor old piece and took it as well.

Looking for associated parts to this shield. I've got a nos forward header heat shield, top exhaust pipe and muffler, hanger bracket more available. Those thoughts disappear once you see prettier than new chrome shields. The original cover never had plating like this. No pitting, it just looked actually gray instead of chrome.
I thought that was expensive. To put it into perspective, I had my top and bottom shields triple nickel chrome plated 28 years ago for 68 each.
