Review HUSQVARNA Rear Wheel Nice Nos Tire Inch 5.30 Vintage fits HUSKY XC WR 1982–2017

The **Husqvarna 151993301 1982 Husky Rear Wheel WR XC NOS Tire 17" 5.30"** is a meticulously preserved, original equipment component from one of the most iconic off-road motorcycles of its era, the legendary **Husqvarna WR XC 250/351**. This rare and highly sought-after rear wheel assembly represents a perfect blend of Swedish engineering precision and rugged Scandinavian design, embodying the spirit of adventure that defined Husqvarna s dominance in the 1970s and early 1980s. The wheel itself is a **fully original, never-overhauled (NOS) unit**, complete with its factory-installed **17-inch cast aluminum rim**, which features the distinctive Husqvarna logo and the model-specific markings that identify it as part of the WR XC lineup. The tire, a **5.30 section width**, is a classic **Michelin XZS** or **Bridgestone** (depending on the specific model year), still mounted on the wheel, showcasing the original tread pattern designed for exceptional grip on dirt, gravel, and light trail conditions. The wheel s **spoke design** is both functional and stylish, with a **double-flanged, 32-spoke layout** that balances strength and weight, ensuring durability without sacrificing performance. The **axle and bearing assembly** remain intact, with the original **Husqvarna-branded components**, including the **adjustable quick-release mechanism** that allows for easy tire changes a practical feature for riders tackling remote terrain. This wheel is not merely a spare part; it is a **piece of automotive history**, embodying the craftsmanship of an era when motorcycles were built to last. Whether used to restore a vintage Husky to its former glory or as a collector s item for an enthusiast s display, this NOS rear wheel is a testament to Husqvarna s legacy of innovation and reliability in off-road motorcycling. Its inclusion in a collection or a fully restored WR XC would elevate the bike s authenticity and value, making it a prized addition for any rider or historian passionate about classic two-wheelers.

### **Pros and Cons of Buying a 1982 Husqvarna Husky Rear Wheel WR XC (Model 151993301) in NOS Condition with 17" x 5.30 Tires**

#### **Pros:**

1. **Classic and Rare Design** The Husky WR XC from the early 1980s is a well-regarded off-road motorcycle, known for its rugged, utilitarian styling and strong performance. It was designed for serious trail and light rock crawling, making it a sought-after collector s item.

2. **Proven Reliability** Husqvarna (and its predecessor, Husaberg) built durable engines in this era. The 350cc two-stroke was robust, and with proper maintenance, it can still deliver solid power. Many of these bikes were built to last, especially if they ve been stored correctly.

3. **NOS (Never Overhauled/Sealed) Condition** If the bike is truly NOS (or close to it), the original components including the engine, transmission, and suspension are untouched, which can be appealing to purists. This means no unknown modifications or wear from previous owners.

4. **Strong Off-Road Capability** The WR XC was designed for rough terrain, featuring a sturdy frame, long-travel suspension (for the era), and a low gearing ratio. The 17" x 5.30 tires are a classic off-road size, providing good traction on loose surfaces.

5. **Resale Value for Enthusiasts** Vintage Husqvarnas, especially well-preserved examples, hold value among collectors. If you plan to keep it long-term or sell later, it may retain its appeal.

6. **Simplicity and Ease of Maintenance** Two-stroke engines are generally simpler than modern four-strokes, making repairs and adjustments more accessible for those with mechanical skills. Parts are still available, though some may require sourcing from specialty suppliers.

7. **Aesthetic and Nostalgia Factor** The Husky WR XC has a distinct, rugged look that appeals to off-road enthusiasts who appreciate classic designs. Riding it can feel like stepping back in time to an era of simpler, more rugged motorcycling.

#### **Cons:**

1. **Age and Wear Concerns** Despite being NOS, a 40-year-old bike will still show signs of aging. The frame, suspension, and drivetrain may have minor wear, even if the engine is sealed. Rust, worn bushings, or degraded rubber components (like the clutch or brake system) could require attention.

2. **Lack of Modern Safety Features** Unlike today s bikes, the WR XC lacks ABS, traction control, modern suspension tuning, and advanced ergonomics. It also has a more exposed riding position, which may not suit all riders.

3. **Fuel and Emissions Issues** Two-stroke engines require a mix of oil and gasoline, which can be messy and less efficient than modern four-strokes. Additionally, many areas have restricted or banned two-stroke use due to emissions regulations.

4. **Limited Availability of Parts and Support** While Husqvarna still produces modern bikes, parts for this vintage model may be harder to find. You ll likely need to source from specialty dealers or eBay, and some components (like OEM suspension or electrical parts) may be discontinued.

5. **Performance Limitations** The 350cc two-stroke is powerful for its time but lacks the torque and smoothness of modern engines. It may struggle with heavy loads or steep climbs compared to contemporary off-road bikes.

6. **Maintenance and Upkeep Costs** Keeping a vintage bike running requires more effort than a modern one. You ll need to monitor oil dilution, check for rust, and replace worn parts like chains, sprockets, and suspension components regularly.

7. **Riding Experience Differences** The WR XC is a trail bike, not a high-performance enduro or motocross machine. Its suspension and handling are tuned for rough terrain, which may feel stiff or outdated compared to modern bikes.

8. **Potential Hidden Damage** Even if the bike is NOS, there could be hidden issues like frame cracks, seized bearings, or worn-out components that aren t immediately visible. A thorough inspection (or a pre-purchase test ride) is essential.

---

### **Ending Conclusion:** Buying a **1982 Husqvarna Husky WR XC in NOS condition with 17" x 5.30 tires** is a great choice if you:

- **Appreciate vintage off-road motorcycles** and enjoy the challenge of maintaining a classic bike.

- **Plan to ride it occasionally** for trail use, nostalgia, or as a project to restore.

- **Are prepared for extra maintenance** and don t mind the limitations of a two-stroke engine.

- **Value the bike s historical significance** and potential resale value among collectors.

However, it may **not** be the best choice if you:

- **Prioritize modern convenience, safety, and performance** over heritage.

- **Need a reliable daily rider** or plan to use it heavily.

- **Are unwilling to invest time and money** in upkeep, modifications, or part sourcing.

- **Prefer a bike that s already fully restored** and ready to ride without major work.

---

### **Recommendation:** If you re serious about this purchase, **take the following steps before buying:**

1. **Inspect the bike thoroughly** Check for rust, frame integrity, engine condition, and suspension wear. A pre-purchase inspection by a Husqvarna specialist is ideal.

2. **Test ride it** Ensure the engine starts easily, the transmission shifts smoothly, and the brakes and suspension work as expected.

3. **Verify the NOS status** Confirm that the engine, transmission, and other critical components are truly untouched. Some "NOS" listings may have been lightly serviced.

4. **Budget for restoration** Even if it s NOS, expect to spend **$1,000 $3,000 ** on necessary repairs, parts, and upgrades (e.g., new tires, chain, suspension, and electrical work).

5. **Consider modern alternatives** If you want a more reliable, safer, and easier-to-maintain off-road bike, look at modern Husqvarna models (e.g., TE 300, TE 501) or other vintage bikes with better support (e.g., Yamaha XT600, Honda XL600).

**Final Verdict:**

This Husky WR XC is a **fantastic project bike or collector s item** for the right buyer someone who loves vintage off-road motorcycles and isn t afraid of putting in work. However, it s **not a plug-and-play ride** and requires patience, mechanical skill, and a willingness to embrace its limitations. If you re ready for that, it s a rewarding purchase. If you want a hassle-free, modern off-road experience, consider a newer model instead.
